Native American Alcohol and Drug Treatment Programs
Native American Alcohol and Drug Treatment Programs are funded through state and federal agencies. While our funding is a rate 85 percent less than our western counterparts, we have enjoyed a greater recovery rate.
The success rate among state treatment programs has been estimated to be one to two percent, while Native counterparts see a three to five percent success rate. Native treatment programs include Native cultural components in addition to the twelve-step program. It is believed these components help Native clients struggling with genetic residuals from boarding school and generations of historical trauma.
