David,

For some reason I was unable to click on the highlighted text to go to the “comment” section of ReadtheSpirit, so I’m commenting by email to you.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading the article about “One Cat Too Many”.

As the owner of many many cats over my lifetime, and not long ago the owner of three cats at one time (alas they have all passed away, and I now have two new cats), I can attest to the fact that people who have three cats definitely have a feline feng shui. For those folks who have been to my home, they know that not only do I have live cats, but I have artistic whimsical cats in the form of wire sculptures, clay statues, paintings, pottery, pillows, (and I could go on and on) in every room and in every corner!. In early September my grandsons spent the week at my home, and they decided to count my “cats.” I believe they counted 265 artistic feline representations. So I have no problem with anyone calling me the “crazy cat lady.” I sometimes go so far as to tell my husband that I married him for his last name, which is Katz!!

There are special moments in my life every day because of my cats, and I consider them spiritual. Curled up on the sofa with a book and a warm fuzzy feline butting my thigh for attention or nuzzling my arm is definitely a divine moment. The world seems at peace to me with a cat at my side. Perhaps that is why my most favorite cat is named “Shalom” or “peace” in Hebrew. In my retired life, I am so incredibly busy with all of my interfaith and mental health initiatives, but I look forward to coming home at the end of the day to the greeting that I receive from my two grateful cats, who are always so excited to see me!! They are a reminder to me each day to pause and spend a few moments meditating on all that I am blessed with. Yes, very spiritual moments indeed!!
