My Last Wedding Of The Year

Melding tradition with your own personal style.

November isn’t a month traditionally associated with weddings. But then again, Katy and Michael aren’t all that traditional anyway. I had a fun, relaxing time photographing their wedding at St. Hugo of the Hills in Bloomfield Hills and their reception at the funky King’s Court Castle in Lake Orion.

From the very beginning, I could tell they didn’t take themselves too seriously and liked being playful. When they were having their “first look” where the couple sees each other before the service, Katy hid underneath the stairs just to surprise Michael. It’s easy photographing people just being themselves, even when they’re in somewhat artificial conditions, like an old stone church or an Arthurian reception hall.

I could say a lot more, but I’ll get out of the way and let the pictures tell the story.
