…I say to everyone among you not to think of yourself more highly than you
Romans 12:3
Set in 1970s San Diego, this is the story of local TV anchor man Ron Burgundy (Mike Ferrell), who apparently has never heard, or heeded, the Apostle Pauls teaching. Ron is good looking, and so vain that he thinks that no lady can resist his charms. He is also a not too bright male chauvenist unable to accept gracefully the changes about to descend upon him and his team with the hiring of the stations first female reporter, Veronica Corningstone (Christina Applegate).
Veronica is beautiful, so he comes on to her, but she is also ambitious and actually knows something about journalism and the world (Ron is so dumb that when someone puts a questionmark at the end of his sign-off that is printed on the teleprompter, he unthinkingly reads it as a question)thus theirs is a stormy relationship.
The movie is utterly silly, but very funny. And with TV announcers continually spending so much time on their hair and such, the situation depicted in the film is still timely.
